Start at the visitor center for your map, then follow the ramp to the east wall for the best harbor vantage. Time your visit for a flag raising or lowering—the ranger talk turns the place into a story you’ll remember.

For a slower visit, circle the star-shaped ramparts clockwise and watch ships move in and out of the Patapsco.

The Belk Theater at Blumenthal Performing Arts Center is Charlotte’s largest and most prestigious performance venue, renowned for its world-class acoustics, striking architecture, and intimate design. Opened in 1992 and designed by renowned architect César Pelli, this 2,100-seat theater features a European horseshoe layout, ensuring that even the farthest seat is just 135 feet from the stage.

One of its most mesmerizing features is the 2,400 fiber-optic “points of light” embedded in the ceiling, creating a dazzling multi-color starry sky effect. The venue’s state-of-the-art production and support capabilities make it an ideal setting for Broadway blockbusters, symphony performances, grand opera, rock concerts, and even corporate events.

Located in Uptown Charlotte, Belk Theater is home to the Charlotte Symphony and regularly hosts Tony Award-winning musicals, legendary musicians, and world-renowned dance companies.
